WHAT ARE MANTRAS?
Mantras are key phrases, prayers, intentions, meditations, or positive affirmations which are designed to help align the will of our conscious mind with the subconscious. The word “mantra” can be broken into two parts. “Man” which means “mind,” and “tra” which is interpreted as “vehicle” or “transport.”
Eastern religions & philosophies have had thousands of years of success with manifesting inner peace through the use of the mantra. Both Hinduism and Buddhism are the chief examples of spiritual systems which triumphantly incorporate the use of mantras in daily practice.
USING A MANTRA IS LIKE SOWING SEEDS FOR A CROP OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT. THE SEEDS THEMSELVES MAY BE TINY, HOWEVER, IF THEY ARE PROPERLY NOURISHED THEY CAN BECOME A MIGHTY GROVE OF TREES.
HOW TO USE A MANTRA TO CULTIVATE WELL BEING.
Using mantras or positive affirmations in your life is best utilized when practiced daily. Think of it like a tiny ritual to get yourself motivated in the morning. You could look in the mirror, make eye contact with yourself, and recite some uplifting words to get yourself in the zone.
I think sometimes folks don’t always appreciate the value of small rituals. A ritual doesn’t have to be elaborate, demand the use of expensive equipment, or include the use of Gods. It can be as simple as a promise to yourself to stop smoking or maybe reminding yourself that you’re enough. Practicing these small rituals for only five minutes a day can cultivate mindfulness and help us battle our depression.
You could also incorporate the use of prayer beads. Many wonderful vendors exist who create “Pagan Prayer Beads” or “Pagan Rosaries.” I would suggest checking out Etsy or another comparable site to find them. Prayer beads assist us in keeping track of where we are if we are doing an especially long session of chanting positive affirmations.
