The Budda

He is popularly known as Siddhartha Gautama, a famous figure whose history dates back more than 2500 years. The founder of the Buddhist lifestyle. Siddhartha was a wealthy prince in India who lived a sheltered life. One day, he left his palace and experienced a glimpse of the world beyond his normal vantage point. He encountered sickness, poverty, and death. The experience left him changed. He shed the vestiges of royalty and took on the title of “The Buddha.”

As an ascetic teacher, The Buddha taught his followers meditation and self discipline to achieve a higher state of consciousness. Buddhism is now one of the major world religions and there are many bodhisattvas, or people who have achieved enlightenment. Some of the better known figures are Quan Yin (the female aspect) or “Happy Buddha” who is channeled for luck and prosperity.
