A thought on being Bipolar

A thought on being bipolar. There are times I feel sad and pathetic. The feelings could be likened to a pair of sunglasses with a very dark tint. The world is technically the same however the perception is darkened by the lenses you are viewing it through. Power over the feelings comes from being aware of the fact that the sunglasses will eventually come off and for a brief moment, the world will be in clear view again.


This also goes for the times that feelings are on the upswing and you feel that you’re unstoppable. Remember, this only means that you’re viewing the world from rose-colored glasses. The same rules apply. The world is what is is and no matter what color the lenses are, this does not change reality.
Your strengths are still your strengths.

Your hurdles are still waiting to be conquered. And your friends are still your friends. Learning to recognize these patterns through journaling, meditation, and other self-awareness practices (along with whatever treatment a doctor has prescribed) is how to navigate through these times.


As hard as it is right now to even find joy in the simplest thing, I am grateful for this insight into myself. May it serve to help others. You’re not alone.
